| At the
feet of the hills of coselli village, the
restaurant la cecca owes its name to the first
founder, francesca baldassari named "
la cecca", who in the first forties started
here a grocery shop.
Round the end of those years, her son enrico
- father of giuseppe, the actual owner of
the restaurant, enlarged the initial activity
moving to a very traditional and simple
type of cuisine.
"La cecca" became very soon one
of the most famous lucchesian restaurants
thanks to its simple and genuine dishes
particularly suitable for small afternoon
snacks and refreshments such as frogs, eels,
salami and cheese.
From that moment on, the restaurant has
become more and more typically tuscanian,
offering personal elaborations of the most
famous dishes of the region.
The grocery shop founded from "la
cecca" continues its activity still
today in a room besides the restaurant where
the inhabitants of the village go every
day shopping ( "a fare la spesa").
